The rest of the week is full of FREE, Brooklyn...
I’m totally stoked on the next few nights that are going to be full of the best entertainment that just so happens to be FREE & also in Brooklyn…all of them. Who says this city is expensive? • Wednesday 1/27 there is the Big Terrific comedy show at Cameo (behind Lovin’ Cup on N. 6th St.) & also a Sound Liberation DJ Night in Ft. Greene • Thursday 1/28 is New Numbers...

Photo-A-Day For A Year Project
Inspired by the project by Adam Gnade, I’ve decided to take a photo a day for a year & share it. Adam said it was a pain in the ass, and I’m sure it will be; but I have a real problem with taking things too seriously & being a perfectionist. Being forced to share things daily, perfection be damned, and allow things to just be as they are…and also have a bit of a photo...

Twitter Fail Whale Designer, Yiying Lu
I didn’t realize the Twitter “Fail Whale” was such a thing. I mean, people get tattoos of it? Really? Apparently, it’s enough of a pop culture icon that this guy, Mitch, redesigned it to illustrate the NBC fiasco that’s been going on with Leno vs. Conan lately. Thing is, the creator of the Fail Whale, Yiying Lu, has some pretty interesting other work. Namely, her...

At times like these...
It’s fun to remember our roots. Like the first time I saw Vampire Weekend in 2007..at Funk N Waffles…opening for Ra Ra. Also the first time I saw The Sister Lovers. Seems like AGES ago. Congrats to Vampire Weekend for going #1 with Contra!

"Honey Slides" by Adam Gnade
Put on your helmets and pith-hats and gloves. So we ran and hid and surrendered and finally did we retreat to the land above the red hills where stretch no telephone wires and we saw burnt-down shotgun shacks and the rust and fire-gutted skeletons of school buses and there we sat on the raggedy edge in lawn chairs and sunglasses and watched the sky dissolve into twilit light and the grape-y dusk...

Music Monday #002
In a belated and fairly abridged version of Music Monday, I bring you bands I have seen and will be seeing live very soon. Light Asylum killed it last night at Union Pool. If you’ve never heard them before, there is nothing stopping you from being floored when vocalist, Shannon Funchess, opens her mouth to belt out the first note. Light Asylum - Shallowtears (mp3) The House Floor will be...

Wanna dance?
This song is way too groovy. If you like bands like Friendly Fires & Chromeo, you will agree. Or if you like fun and good times, at all. Enjoy Golden Silvers. (True Romance album out now on XL!)
